Position Title: Sales Manager

Position Classification: Salaried/Exempt  

Position Summary: This position will be responsible for growing the number of properties covered by National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) flood insurance by generating new business through developing effective sales strategies, marketing excellence, and distribution. This position manages sales managers and supports conferences and other growth initiatives. 

Job Responsibilities/Essential Duties: 

  • Promote the sale of flood insurance for the NFIP.
  • Develop and execute a growth strategy focused on customer retention, product offerings, new customers, and new distribution streams to drive policy-in-force (PIF) growth, and superior customer satisfaction.
  • Lead a team of sales managers.
  • Lead sales, marketing, and collateral development activities closely coordinating with the clients. 
  • Collect and analyze regional sales trend data and recognize top sellers. 
  • Design, implement, execute, and evaluate annual regional sales plans.
  • Identify opportunities, including marketing campaigns, flood awareness weeks, hurricane preparedness weeks, local and regional events, etc. for our clients’ agents to increase their flood sales. 
  • Coordinate marketing and awareness campaigns. 
  • Serve as the point of contact leader between agents and clients. 
  • Perform site visits with top-selling agents and agents showing outstanding growth potential as appropriate. 
  • Provide local agents with tools and resources during major flood events. 
  • Identify any issues with specific agents and inform senior management of issues and suggested corrective actions; encourage agents not selling flood insurance currently to sell NFIP products. 
  • Work with operations, technology, and other areas of the business to ensure sales commitments are implemented. 

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of sales and supervisory/management experience.
  • Proven experience as a sales leader.
  • Experience with the National Flood Insurance Program products and services.
  • Proven track record of overachievement and exceeding sales targets.
  • Motivated self-starter with a passion for sales.
  • Ability to work under daily/weekly deadlines in a fast-changing work environment.
  • Industry market knowledge in insurance. 
  • Demonstrated effective negotiation and networking skills.
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills.
  • Proven communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of business and sales growth techniques.
  • Ability to build rapport and establish long-term relationships.

Position Location: 

This position is onsite in our facility which is located in the metro D.C. area. Potential opportunity for a hybrid working environment that would require in-office work at least 3 days/week or as otherwise agreed.

Physical Demands: 

  • Must be able to travel frequently, including overnight; both in-state and out-of-state travel required, and have access to a commercial airport.
  • This position requires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
